MevaSearch Extension
Private search from the toolbar – one click or Alt+Shift+M.
What it does
- Search box in the toolbarOpens with one click or Alt+Shift+M, with suggestions as you type.
- CategoriesWeb, Images, Videos, News, Music and AI. Tab switches between them.
- Prefixes and !bangs@i, @v, @n, @ai and all MevaSearch !bangs work in the box.
- Changes nothing elseYour default search engine, new tab page and the sites you visit stay untouched.
Installing from the ZIP file
- Download the ZIP file and unpack it into a folder.
- Open chrome://extensions (in Edge: edge://extensions).
- Turn on Developer mode.
- Click Load unpacked and choose the unpacked folder.
A manually installed extension does not update itself. Download the new ZIP when a new version comes out.
Privacy policy
The MevaSearch extension is built to collect nothing. This policy covers only the extension; the MevaSearch website is covered by the main privacy policy.
- No account, no tracking
- The extension has no account of its own and contains no analytics, ads, trackers or third-party code.
- What is sent and where
- Only to mevasearch.com: your query when you search, and the text you type when suggestions are on. Nothing is sent to any other server.
- Search suggestions
- Suggestions are fetched from mevasearch.com, which gets them from Brave Search on its own behalf. Brave sees the query, but not your IP address, cookies or account. Suggestions can be turned off in the options.
- Your MevaSearch session
- If you are logged in to mevasearch.com, the browser attaches your existing session cookie to those requests. The extension cannot read or store that cookie.
- What is stored
- Only your three options (where results open, default category, suggestions on or off), in your browser’s extension storage. If browser sync is on, the browser syncs them.
- Permissions
- "storage" saves the options. Access to mevasearch.com is needed for suggestions. The extension does not read the pages you visit, your history or your tabs.
- No selling or sharing
- We do not sell, rent or share any data, because the extension does not collect any.
Extension terms
- Free to use
- The extension is free. Searching with MevaSearch is subject to the MevaSearch Terms of Service.
- Official sources
- The only official sources are the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons and the ZIP file on this page. Copies from elsewhere may be modified.
- No modified copies
- Do not publish modified versions under the MevaSearch name or logo.
- Provided as is
- The extension is provided without warranty. We are not liable for damage caused by using it, to the extent permitted by law.
- Changes
- We may update the extension, this policy and these terms. Changes take effect when published on this page.
